David Lockman M.D., FAAD
David Lockman, M.D., has been practicing medicine in Athens since 1983. He was born and raised in Florida, but has adopted Georgia as his home. He completed his undergraduate degree from Davidson College and Florida State University. He then attended the University of Florida College of Medicine. After a career in Infectious Disease, Dr. Lockman switched his specialty to Dermatology. He completed his Dermatology residency at the Medical College of Georgia. He would later train with world-renowned Skin Cancer expert Dr. Fred Mohs in Madison, Wisconsin. He is credentialed at Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center and is Board Certified in Dermatology as well as in Internal Medicine, and Infectious Diseases.
Lauren Whalen M.D., FAAD
Lauren Nagashima Whalen, M.D., joined David Lockman and Associates in December 2008. Originally from Hawaii, Dr. Whalen graduated from Stanford University and attended Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio, where she graduated with honors in 1989. She completed an internship in Medicine and Pediatrics and a residency in Dermatology at University Hospitals of Cleveland. Following her training, Dr. Whalen entered private practice in the greater Cleveland area where she practiced medical dermatology for 15 years. Dr. Whalen is Board Certified in Dermatology and a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology.
Sebastian Afonso P.A.-C
Sebastian Afonso is an NCCPA Board Certified Physician Assistant. He is from Watkinsville and received his B.S. degree from the University of Georgia in Athens. He received his M.P.A. degree at Augusta University where he earned the Chairman's Award of Excellence. He is a member of the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants and the Georgia Dermatology Physician Assistants. Sebastian lives in Athens with his wife, Kelsey, who is a nurse currently completing her doctorate to become a nurse practitioner. In his time away from work, Sebastian enjoys spending time with family, playing guitar, exercising and attending church.
